The executive vice-president of the Foreign Investment Committee, Liliana Macchiavello, was one of the speakers at the III International Forum: Opportunities for Investment in the Agribusiness Cluster, organized by the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO).  At the event, attended by over 56 companies from 11 countries, she outlined the opportunities that Chile offers for foreign investment in this sector.
Headed by Undersecretary for Agriculture Álvaro Cruzat and the executive vice-president of CORFO, Hernán Cheyre, the Forum was also addressed by Ronald Bown, president of the Exporters’ Association (ASOEX), and Antonio Walker, president of the Fruit Producers’ Federation (FEDEFRUT). In addition, it included the presentation of successful case studies by Santiago Querol of Laserpack and Juan José Río of Laserbox while Alejandro Sánchez of Green Solutions talked about carbon and water footprints.
The Forum was attended by companies from the United States, Spain, Italy, France, Denmark, Australia, China, New Zealand, Argentina, Venezuela and Germany which together represent an investment portfolio of close to US$40 million.
The activities, which lasted until June 11, included meetings with Chilean counterparts from around the country to assess investment opportunities and possible strategic alliances, particularly in fruit farming, olive growing, wine production, the dairy industry, cattle farming, processed foods and ancillary industries.
